Robin Williams' Daughter: Stop Doing This To Him
Robin Williams’ daughter, Zelda Williams, is calling for an end to AI-generated videos of her late father. In Instagram posts, she blasted the deepfakes as “dumb” and disrespectful, insisting, “It’s NOT what he’d want.” Zelda compared the AI clips to “over-processed hotdogs” that reduce her father’s legacy to cheap imitations. She’s long been outspoken against AI recreations, previously backing SAG’s fight against digital cloning and calling the use of her dad’s voice “Frankensteinian” and “disturbing.” Her comments come amid a wave of AI deepfakes on TikTok, including fake Robin Williams ads and even staged interactions with Betty White. OpenAI says creators can request takedowns, but preventing recreations remains difficult. Not everyone agrees: Matthew Lawrence, Williams’ Mrs. Doubtfire co-star, has openly supported the idea of reviving Williams’ voice through AI—even suggesting he should be the voice of AI itself.
