Prime Video and Warner Bros. Television are teaming up for a limited series about the Karen Read trial, with Elizabeth Banks starring as Read and also executive producing through her Brownstone banner. The show will be based on Karen, the Wondery/Law & Crime podcast that chronicled the polarizing case of a Boston police officer found dead in the snow and the murder charges brought against his girlfriend, Read. The series will examine America’s fascination with true crime, conspiracy theories, and institutional distrust. The Karen Read trial became a media frenzy, spawning talk show segments, news specials, and even a Netflix documentary before the verdict was reached.
