CBS Plunged Into Huge Crisis As Beloved Reality Star Embroils Herself In Ugly Scandal
CBS is staring down a PR disaster after Survivor star Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick went on an Instagram tirade that included anti-Semitic remarks aimed at fellow contestant Eliza Orlins. Kendrick, 46, who just wrapped filming on the franchise’s 50th season in Fiji, lashed out after Orlins published a dossier criticizing her conservative politics. In the rant, Kendrick cursed Orlins, referenced her Jewish identity in offensive terms, and denied being anti-gay or bigoted. The video quickly spread through Survivor fan circles, leaving CBS and production insiders panicked about fallout for the milestone season. Orlins, 42, wasn’t surprised, accusing Kendrick of bigotry and saying CBS should reconsider her role. Kendrick later apologized, blaming wine and poor wording, and insisted she “fully supports the Jewish community” while condemning antisemitism. Kendrick is a longtime Survivor figure — first competing in 2005’s Palau and later inspiring Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games heroine — but she’s never won the game. Orlins, meanwhile, has two Survivor seasons, The Amazing Race, and a Manhattan DA run under her belt. CBS has yet to comment on whether Kendrick’s meltdown will affect Survivor 50 when it airs next spring.
