Kevin Costner Demands Dismissal Of Horizon Stuntwoman's Lawsuit Over Rape Scene
Kevin Costner is fighting to shut down a lawsuit from stuntwoman Devyn LaBella, who accuses him of forcing her into an unscripted rape scene while filming Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2. LaBella first filed in May, claiming she was blindsided on set in May 2023 when another actor was brought in to simulate an assault. She says her undergarments were exposed, she was left shaken, and that her objections were ignored. Her amended complaint includes texts with the intimacy coordinator and detailed emotional fallout. Costner flatly denies it. In new court filings, his team says the scene was scripted, fully blocked, and non-sexual—limited to an actor lifting the hem of LaBella’s dress while she remained clothed in bike shorts and petticoats. He insists there was no nudity, contact, or simulated sex. Costner also produced declarations from cast and crew backing him up and pointed to a post-shoot text from LaBella thanking her supervisors and saying she was “really happy it worked out.” LaBella’s lawyers counter that she objected immediately, has corroborating evidence, and is now facing a smear campaign meant to silence her. They frame the case as part of a wider pattern of Hollywood protecting powerful men at the expense of workplace safety.
