Robert Irwin Apologizes For Dining And Dashing At Popular Restaurant
Robert Irwin has apologized after accidentally skipping out on the bill at a restaurant in Coffs Harbour, Australia. The 21-year-old wildlife conservationist and son of the late Steve Irwin explained in an Instagram video that the oversight happened while he was road-tripping along the East Coast. After ordering a salad at the Jetty Pavilion, Irwin got caught up in a frenzy of fan interactions and forgot to pay before leaving. The next morning, realizing his mistake, he contacted the restaurant and offered to pay remotely. However, the staff graciously let it slide, simply asking for a good review. Irwin went a step further, encouraging his 7.6 million followers to support the small business and promising to return in person to settle the bill. In response, the restaurant thanked him warmly, even joking they might name a salad after him. Irwin, who now works at Australia Zoo with his sister Bindi, ended his video by quipping, “Today is not the day I start my life of crime.”
