Brad Pitt Says Tom Cruise Pulled Out Of 'Ford V Ferrari' After He Realized He Wouldn't Be Driving Much
Brad Pitt recently revealed that he and Tom Cruise were originally set to star in Ford v Ferrari, but the project fell apart a decade before it was ultimately made. Speaking to The National News, Pitt explained that he and Cruise both wanted to drive in the film, with Cruise aiming to play Carroll Shelby and Pitt wanting the role of Ken Miles. When Cruise realized Shelby wouldn’t be doing much driving in the script, he backed out. The film, eventually released in 2019 and directed by James Mangold, starred Matt Damon and Christian Bale and became a critical and commercial success. Pitt added that the original version, which was to be directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), was also scrapped due to studio concerns over budget.
