Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest: Time, Channel, Prize

The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, a beloved Fourth of July tradition since 1972, returns tomorrow at Coney Island, New York. This year marks the return of fan favorite Joey Chestnut after a 2024 ban. The event challenges contestants to eat as many hot dogs as possible in 10 minutes, with rules allowing water but typically no condiments. The prize pool is $40,000, split between men’s and women’s divisions. Chestnut holds the men’s record with 73 hot dogs, and Miki Sudo leads the women with eight titles and a record of six hot dogs in one minute. The 2024 champions, Patrick Bertoletti and Miki Sudo, will defend their titles this year. ESPN has broadcast the contest since 2004 and will continue through 2029.
