Both Democrats and Republicans have been targeted, as well as current and former Capitol Police officials. Investigators fear the pizzas may serve as a threat or intimidation tactic, signaling that someone knows where these individuals live. The deliveries occurred amid what Capitol Police describe as a "heightened threat landscape", with most pizzas arriving the same weekend authorities were searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of two Minnesota lawmakers. That suspect allegedly had a hit list of additional political figures. The Capitol Police are working with multiple agencies and emphasize that threats against elected officials will not be tolerated.
