Controversial 1980s Horror Film That Was Pulled From Theaters Because It Was So Gruesome Set For Reboot
The controversial 1984 slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night is getting a reboot, with a gruesome, unrated version scheduled to hit theaters on December 12, 2025. The original film sparked backlash for its graphic violence and portrayal of a killer Santa, leading to its removal from theaters after public outrage—particularly from parents. Despite this, it gained cult status and spawned several sequels and a 2012 remake. The new film, from the team behind Terrifier 3, will star Rohan Campbell (from Halloween Ends) as Billy Chapman, the traumatized orphan turned killer Santa.
