Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up' Hits 1 Billion Streams On Spotify
Rick Astley's 1987 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" has officially joined Spotify's "Billions Club," surpassing one billion streams. Originally released on Astley’s debut album Whenever You Need Somebody, the song was a chart-topping success in its time and has now found new life through streaming. Astley expressed his gratitude, saying he never imagined the song would still be thriving decades later. Written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, the track topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and has sold five million copies. It gained renewed popularity in the late 2000s thanks to the viral "Rickrolling" meme, where users are tricked into watching its music video.
