Ed Sheeran Responds To TikTok Critic Who Said "His Songs Are Good In The Way That Heroin Is Good For People"
Ed Sheeran had a laid-back response to a TikTok takedown that compared his music to heroin—catchy, but allegedly bad for your brain. The critique came from TikTok music commentator The Swiftologist, who slammed Sheeran’s latest single “Azizam,” which dropped April 4. The upbeat track, titled after the Persian word for “my dear,” was intended to be a feel-good release. But The Swiftologist wasn’t feeling the love, calling the song “soulless” and claiming that tracks like “Shivers,” “Bad Habits,” and “Shape of You” are basically carbon copies. “It’s addictive like heroin—bad for the brain,” he ranted, adding, “There’s been no growth since 2016. I’m losing my mind. I’ll never get those two minutes back.” He ended the review dramatically, saying, “He’s terrorizing the music industry—we should punish him.” Ed Sheeran’s reaction? A simple “Lol” in the comments. The critic followed up with, “King I’m so sorry. But we need to come up with something else.”
