No MTV Movie & TV Awards Ceremony For 2nd Year
For the second year in a row, the fan-voted MTV Movie & TV Awards have been canceled. According to TMZ, the ceremony is among several high-profile events—such as the CMT Music Awards and Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards—put on hold as Paramount Global, MTV's parent company, undergoes a merger with Skydance Media. Deadline confirmed the news, noting that a formal announcement is expected once the company decides whether to scrap the show entirely or bring it back in 2025. The 2023 edition aired as a pre-taped special after host Drew Barrymore stepped down in support of the Writers Guild of America strike. The 2024 event was then canceled as the network reconsidered the show's format moving forward.
