Apple TV+ has officially greenlit Cape Fear, a 10-episode thriller series executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Javier Bardem, who also stars in the show. Based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners—which inspired the 1962 film and Scorsese's 1991 remake—the series is described as a tense, Hitchcockian exploration of America's fixation with true crime. The plot centers on Amanda and Steve Bowden, a happily married attorney couple, whose lives spiral into chaos when Max Cady, a notorious killer from their past (played by Bardem), is released from prison.
