Ariana Grande took to social media yesterday to push back against body shamers. She shared a video to TikTok in which she referenced recent concern about her appearance from fans, while claiming that she was healthier than ever. Ariana has had to weather comments from social media users who have pointed out her weight and suggested that her face has changed over time. But she said the version of her body that people were comparing her to was the unhealthiest version of her body, and she saw her current appearance as a major improvement for her health. She said: “But I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to. I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what. If you think you’re saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is, healthy or unhealthy, big or small, this or that, sexy or not sexy, we should really work towards not doing that as much.” She suggested that her fans — and critics — should focus on less physical compliments, or simply learn to ignore whatever features in her and other people that they disliked.
