Mindy Kaling's adult animated series Velma was released on HBO Max Thursday and Scooby-Doo fans aren’t impressed. According to the show's tagline, it’s meant to be “the origin story of Velma Dinkley (Kaling), the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang” that “unmasks her complex and colorful past.” Some fans feel it may stray too far from the source material. Currently, the shows sits with a low 11 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
