The lawsuit, filed by attorney Larry Stein, alleges that Kanye and Ty approached the estate on January 31, 2024, days before the projected February 9 release of Vultures 1, seeking clearance for the song. The estate, claiming continued ownership of a portion of the copyright, rebuffed West's request. Seeking substantial damages, Donna Summer's estate seeks an injunction to halt further distribution of the song containing the contested sample.
