Trump's Former Attorney Says Trump Will Be Jailed For Violating Gag Order

Donald Trump has defied a gag order in his federal election case related to January 6, a move that could land him behind bars, according to his former lawyer Ty Cobb. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan reinstated the gag order on Sunday, which had been temporarily lifted for nine days after Trump's legal team protested, citing infringement on his free speech rights. Under this order, Trump was forbidden from targeting witnesses, prosecutors, or court officials. Despite this, he resumed attacking Judge Chutkan, whom he labeled a "TRUE TRUMP HATER" on his Truth Social website. Ty Cobb, who served in the Trump White House during the Mueller probe, mentioned that another judge, Arthur Engoron, had already fined Trump $10,000 for violating a separate gag order in a New York case, preventing him from targeting court staff. Cobb expressed his belief that Judge Chutkan, observing Trump's recent behavior, might impose a harsher penalty, potentially leading to a night or a weekend in jail. Last night on CNN, he said: “I think judge Chutkan prudently allowed Trump to try to persuade her to extend the gag order. She concluded on the basis of his conduct this week not to do so. And I think she'll come in with a much heavier penalty and ultimately I think he'll spend a night or a weekend in jail.”
